Sash windows are a beautiful and timeless part of any home. Over the years, they can start to show their age, but that doesn’t mean you have to lose them.

I specialise in bringing original timber sash windows back to life using a combination of traditional joinery and advanced resin systems. The process is minimally invasive, which means less of the original timber is removed and more of the window’s character is preserved. The result is a repair that looks right, performs well, and lasts for many years.

The timber used in period windows is often of far better quality than what’s available today. With the right care, these windows can last for centuries. Restoring them keeps that craftsmanship alive while making your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and secure.

Repairing your sash windows is also far more cost effective than replacement. In most cases, restoration can be up to 70 percent cheaper, while being a far more sustainable choice for your home and the planet.

Sash Window Restoration Specialist

I’m Jim, aka Sash Man, and I’ve always had a love for working with wood. It started back at school, where I earned an A* in woodwork, and that passion has only grown stronger over the years.

About fifteen years ago, my wife and I began renovating our eighteenth-century home in Lincolnshire. That project sparked my fascination with traditional craftsmanship and the beauty of old buildings.

Along the way I picked up a range of skills including plumbing, wiring, and joinery, but it was the sash windows that truly caught my heart. The timber was full of character but showing its age, and the old splicing repairs had failed.

After seeing how heritage buildings such as Lincoln Cathedral were repaired using specialist resins, I decided to learn the process myself. With no one local offering the service, I trained, practised, and quickly realised how satisfying it is to return a window to its original strength and elegance.

There’s something deeply rewarding about taking a tired, rattly old sash and giving it new life. Repairing the decay, fitting discreet draught proofing, balancing the weights, and watching it glide open just as it was meant to.

Today I work throughout Lincolnshire, providing sash window repairs and restoration carried out with care, skill, and respect for traditional craftsmanship. I’m fully insured, trained, and DBS-checked, so you can be sure of a professional, reliable service from start to finish.

What I do…..

I’m passionate about preserving old windows and woodwork. The craft, time, and materials that went into their original production deserve to be cherished, not replaced.

Based in Lincolnshire, I specialise in repairing and restoring sash windows using a blend of traditional joinery and specialist resin systems. My approach breathes new life into tired timber while keeping as much of the original material as possible.

Where the old glass can be saved, I’ll always reuse it to maintain the authentic look and character of the window. When needed, I can also fit Heritage Slimline Double Glazing units that improve energy efficiency without compromising appearance.

Many traditional joinery repairs involve removing large sections of original timber to splice in new wood, which is often of lower quality. Using Repair Care specialist resin systems, this can be avoided.

These products allow me to preserve as much of the original timber as possible, creating an honest repair that works with the wood rather than against it. The resin flexes and moves naturally with the timber, preventing cracks and ensuring a repair that will last for the life of the window.
